Dental Exams

Comprehensive dental exams are the cornerstone of maintaining a healthy smile. At each exam we check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other potential problems that require treatment. Periodic exams and radiographs (X-rays of the mouth) are taken at regularly scheduled intervals and are essential to maintaining good health. Our digital computerized radiographs reduce exposure to unnecessary radiation. We also utilize the Diagnodent®, which is a computerized device that can detect tooth decay in its early stage.

Oral Cancer Screening

There are two different types of oral cancer. Oral cavity cancer which begins in the mouth. Then the other type of oral cancer is called oropharyngeal cancer which develops in the part of the throat behind the mouth. Certain behaviors causes such as smoking, chewing tobacco, drinking alcohol excessively and sunbathing can put you at an increased risk for developing oral cancer. In addition, men are at twice the risk of developing oral cancer, as are people older than 35. Actually, more than half of oral cancer patients are 68 and older. However, it's important to keep in mind that more than 25 percent of oral cancers occur in people who do not smoke and have no other risk factors. The good news is the earlier you get an oral cancer exam, the easier it is to treat. In fact, when oral cancer is diagnosed and treated in the early stages, the chances of successful recovery rises dramatically.

Digital Radiography

Digital radiography is a high-tech replacement for traditional X-rays. Using digital radiography X-rays can be viewed by the dentist on a computer screen. The benefits of digital radiography are: exposes patient to much less radiation, higher quality images of your teeth, and its environmentally friendly as well.

Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease that causes swelling, redness and attacks bone, gums and other supporting structures of the teeth. Dental plaque is the primary problem of periodontal disease. When plaque is not removed then it turns into dental tartar, which causes periodontal disease. You can prevent dental plaque by practicing good oral hygiene. That means brushing and flossing regularly; visiting the dentist for regular checkups and dental cleanings. Periodontal therapy is used to treat early stages of periodontal disease. This technique utilizes scaling and root planning, antibiotics, and bite correction.

Fresh Breath System

On order to maintain a healthy fresh mouth we recommend the Oxyfresh fresh breath system which includes: Oxyfresh Power Rinse (Alcohol-Free), Oxygene® Fluoride Toothpaste, and tongue scraper. Fresh breath and a healthier mouth are just a rinse away. It’s safe for the entire family.

Sealants

Sealants are generally placed on your teeth at a young age since decay can start at an early age. When the first set of permanent molars develop, sealing these chewing surfaces soon after will help keep them healthy and protect them from tooth decay. Once, the second molars develop the molars are just as vulnerable as the first. The sooner these chewing surfaces can be sealed the better. Although dental sealants are usually applied early in life, adults are also at risk for developing decay can also benefit from receiving them. Consult with your dentist to determine whether tooth sealants are right for you.

Root Canal Therapy

Retaining your teeth is vital to your overall health. Root canal therapy is a dental procedure that can save a tooth with a diseased nerve. Root canal therapy can be painless and can be completed in as little as one visit. Our office has an endodontist (root canal specialist) on site.

Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be placed and removed from your mouth upon your will. Dentures today are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. The two main types of dentures are full or partial. Partial dentures rest upon natural teeth or crowns which act as anchors. Full dentures replace all missing teeth in your mouth. A full denture can be made after all teeth are removed or an immediate full denture can be inserted immediately after remaining teeth are removed, thus you will not be without teeth at any time. Immediate full dentures usually require relining after several months because the supporting bone of the teeth reshapes as it heals. Full dentures can also be made in combination with dental implants for situations where a denture may be loose. The denture simply snaps into the implant providing a very secure, snug fit making chewing and speaking comfortable.

Pediatric Dentistry

Our office welcomes the entire family. We provide preventative care as well as restorative treatment for your children in our comfortable office. Services such as fluoride treatments and sealants are just a few of the procedures. Fluoride treatments strengthen the enamel surfaces of your teeth, reaching those hard to reach areas.

Night Guards

Night guards protect your teeth from harmful grinding or clenching habits, preventing chipping, loosening, and enamel wear. A night guard may be the treatment of choice for Temporomandibular joint disorder.

Sports Mouth Guards

Protect your child’s teeth from sports related trauma.
